Account FAQ

Why do I need an account?

Accounts are used to maintain a download area for customers who have purchased themes and for anyone who wants to post comments on the articles written here. I use two different pieces of software to manage these tasks and both require user accounts as part of their core functionality. aMember is the application I use to manage access to your download folder and WordPress is the blogging application I use to run the content portion of the site.

It appears I actually have two accounts - why?

Technically, this is true. When you create an account here, the two systems in operation, aMember and WordPress, talk together and synchronize user accounts for you, one for the download area and one for the blog (articles section).

Although these are separate applications, they’re integrated in such a way that when you log in, you’re logged-in to both areas. Your username is the same for both. Your password is also the same for both, initially. Be sure to keep your passwords synchronized.

The error message tells me I’m not logged in to one of my accounts. What’s wrong?

If you ever encounter a situation where logging-in only logs you in to the download account OR the blog, but not both, it’s most likely that your passwords are not synchronized anymore. If you know this is the case because you recently changed the password for one of them, you can use these links to synchronize the passwords for both accounts again. Then logging-in should work for both accounts again.

I just purchased a theme, but it’s not showing up in my collection. Where is it?

There are a few reasons why this might happen. The most likely reason is that the payment method used to pay for the theme was an eCheck (wire transfer) and your bank is still processing the request. That can take 3-4 business days on average.

If you paid by credit card and the theme is not showing up in your collection, please contact me so I can fix the problem for you.

I purchased a theme in 2006, but it’s not showing up in my collection. Where is it?

Late 2006, I installed a new e-commerce system. It’s likely your order was placed in the old system. If you’ve created an account in my new system now, that’s why you don’t see your original purchase. If you contact me I’ll find your order in the old system and move your products into your new account for you. Not a problem.

My Mac went up in flames and died a horrible death. I got a new one. How can I download my themes again?

For most of you, just log in to your account - your themes are still available to you. Download the version that matches your version of iWeb. Some themes have versions for iWeb 1.0 and also iWeb 2.0.

If you can’t remember your username or password, contact me.

For those of you that purchased your themes back in 2006 (on the old system), you should first create a free download account for yourself and then contact me with your account name so I can grant you access to the themes you purchased. Include your original order number if you can, but I can also find you (albeit less effectively) using the email address used on the order or your last name (if you’re not a Jones or Smith).
