Hip Replacement Surgery

June 11, 2008

I’ve been working feverishly for two weeks to get Tabouli wrapped up because today my mom goes in for hip replacement surgery. If you’re the praying type or healer type, send her your good vibes. Surgery is at 12:00 noon CST in the US. I may be blogging from the hospital.

Hopefully the pace of the last two weeks has me prepared to get through the next few weeks now. I’ll be in and out constantly to attend to my parents, now 75 and 80, neither of which will be able to move around much at all, so thank you for your understanding and patience up front.

For Tabouli, I believe I have solved the last of the browser issues and I just need to implement them. If all goes smoothly today, I should be able to get those in tonight and have the update posted tomorrow.

Suzanne: I’ve been way too busy the past couple days, but I did want to send a quick note saying I’m very happy that your mother’s surgery went well. I know it will take a lot of work and time to help her during the recuperation period, but hang in there!

Hanging! We brought her home today and things are looking pretty good. She’s a bit concerned about managing things since my dad can’t move around well or drive but my sister and I will be looking after them both for a good three weeks or until she’s able to maneuver herself and drive again.

Ugh… hard stuff for 75. Her incision is about 8-9 inches wide. OUCH!

My mom had a hip replacement a couple of years ago. After having it done, her comment was that if she had known that it would have made such a difference she would have had it done earlier. She had not realized how much pain she was in until it was gone.

She also went straight from the hospital to a rehab unit. The PT’s would not let he go home until she was able to handle the stairs.

Suzanne, hope your mom is well on the mend.
