Softwhite Theme Update Posted »

After nearly a week of all-night design and code craziness, I’m happy to report my new store is finally up and running! I’ve slashed prices on a number of themes, some of which have dropped to $10.95 USD, others to $14.95 USD. Maybe there’s something you’d like? Try out the new store!

I’ve mentioned to a few of you in emails that I’ve gone to great lengths to simplify the site and remove the complexity that often accompanies multiple systems integration. This new store reflects that goal.

Aside from sporting a cleaner layout, the new store does a few different things. It’s aware if you’re logged-in to your account or not. If you are, you get an add to cart option for purchasing multiple products on one order. You can also opt for the straight to checkout path by clicking the Buy Now! button on any product. No fuss - it knows who you are and what to do. Click click you’re done.

If you’re not logged-in to an account, each product will then ask whether you’re an existing customer (assumes you have an account but are not logged-in) or if you’re a new customer (you’ve never created an account before). Depending on the option you select, the system then knows to deliver you to the log-in form or the new account form when you proceed to checkout. Take care of that, pay some money… wham bam - DONE!

The old store did not possess any of this artificial intelligence which made the shopping and checkout process very confusing, if not irritating. Preaching to the choir :-/ I’m very happy to have implemented what I think will be a much easier and effective experience. If you have some time to check it out and test it with a few clicks, do so and let me know what you think. There are a few things on my list to tackle, but they’re minor compared to what I went through to build that.

Don’t forget - prices slashed on many themes. Must sleep now.

Cheers!

  • Wow, you have been busy! I do like the navigation of the new store. The expanding windows with details and screen shots is slick and keeps you on the page. Nicer than when we were jumping between live demos, screen shots and descriptions. I guess I need to send you links to some of my live pages to get listed in the examples.
(on a side note - when I first looked at the store, I couldn’t figure out why (or how) you were selling “used” themes….)

  • Hey! I just visited the NEW Store! It’s great to navigate. I like the new purchase process, too. The whole website is proving much easier to navigate.

    Thanks!

  • Yay! I’m glad you guys like it and find it easier to use. I’m hellbent on making that a simple process. I do a lot of online shopping myself and any time the shopping or checkout process is confusing, I get irritated. I tried to link you to as much information as possible while keeping you on the page (as you mention Kari) but at the same time, the page is not cluttered with anything but simple, clear choices.

I have to figure out how to change the redirection after login so it goes back to the page you were on, but that’s really the only lingering issue I think I have.

I really appreciate your feedback so send me more if anything strikes you.
