Ugh… this issue with iWeb losing images you put on your pages is getting to be a pain in the neck. It even loses the image I use for the page background on some pages. Now iWeb is crashing when I try to publish :-O That might have something to do with the fact I had iWeb 1.0 and iWeb 2.0 open there for a while. I’m going to reboot to clear any potential memory issues. But BAH!!

Well rebooting didn’t help. I’m still losing images and still crashing when trying to publish. I may ignore that for the meantime in order to get AquaPRO ready. It’s already nearly 3PM here.

  • Keep going Suzanne! I am cheering for you!!
I know that you can figure it out. Your attention to detail is amazing and your templates are awesome. Hang in there - a bunch of people in Florida are rooting for you!!

  • Hey a shout out to Florida fans! :)

Arg… it continues to crash on me. I even pulled out the back-up from last night. Still crashes! Pray to the iWeb gods for me… maybe do a hurricane dance. You folks in Florida got that routine down don’t you hee hee.

  • Hurricane dances are not funny!! We prefer not to do them during hurricane season.

I have been having the same problem with images disappearing. First time it happened, I used Disk Warrior to rebuild my directory and everything came back. Not since….

I am even losing graphics that I have just replaced, saved the file, closed the file, reopen the file and they are gone again. So frustrating!! Especially when I can look in the package contents and see the files are there. And there is no rhyme nor reason to the ones that are going away.

  • LOL… okay so skip the hurricane dance :D We don’t want anyone losing life or limb over iWeb.

Yeah this image thing is really annoying. I can’t seem to find the patter either, but it appears to happen with only a sub-set of the images I’ve put on pages. It’s not always that they’re gone, but if they are, it’s always these certain ones. For example, I’m losing the image for the page background at time, but only on these five pages. The same image used for the other pages never disappears.

I’ll try to determine the source of this issue, but since it’s a global iWeb thing, meaning all users are seeing this, not just those that use my themes, it might be hard to track. The only other issue I can find suspect is the duplication of domain files or having more than one domain file. I don’t know.

On a brighter note, I solved my publishing problem. It was crashing on a particular blog entry every time so I deleted it and recreated it on a new page. That solved that buggers! But now I get the error:

    iWeb template publishing error

  • I’m in the middle of photographing a hockey tournament and was using the new galleries to sell pictures. Wouldn’t you know it, not only did iweb stop publishing some of my pictures but it missed whole albums. What a nightmare, so I turned to the new .mac web galleries but they only give you one per account… so my tip to those of you that want more web galleries…. don’t buy a second .mac account, upgrade to a family account… now I have 5 galleries… they upload much faster than the iweb albums. Oh and they look better too. check them out http://hamiltonphotography.ca/Acton/Acton_Camp.html

  • Same thing happened to me using iWeb and the Kids Blue template. I rebuilt every page of the site several times but continued to lose both my images and the template’s images after saving or publishing to a folder. I also dragged the missing pics from the finder into the domain package — they would appear the next time I opened the domain, but eventually disappear. Happened to be at an AppleStore one day during this several-day battle with iWeb 2, and asked the Genius behind the bar about it. He said the domain file is corrupted and needs to be rebuilt, i.e., thrown away. Start from scratch. Sigh! I did that, but then discovered that PCs running Explorer 6 and 7 dropped some of the grahics on some of the pages! Ultimately, I gave up on iWeb 2 and rebuilt the site in iWeb 1, copying and pasting elements from iWeb 2 to iWeb 1. The site works fine now in all browsers on all platforms, but of course, lacks the googlemaps, snippets, and publishing options that the site had in iWeb 2. *Sigh!*

  • Wow Ryan if that site doesn’t catch your eye nothing will! :) I like that theme too. Nice texture in the page background.

  • Steve - interesting… I don’t get this “domain file corrupted” business. Files don’t just corrupt for no good reason. Somewhere, somehow, iWeb is not working correctly and creates a situation that hoses the whole thing up. Course they’re not going to explain it that way will they ;-) I guess we’ll wait for an update for that one.

  • Suzanne funny you should mention images missing. Im getting the same problem using one of the templates supplied, Goldenrod. And the only images it says are missing are the made on a mac and brown leafy bush thingy. But i do manage to publish everything ok.

  • I’m not getting any missing images. There was the problem I had in the beginning, but haven’t seen it again since 2.0.1.

  • Oh Ken it would work for you wouldn’t it ;-)
