Catch Bugs!

August 16, 2007

You guys have to catch more bugs! Just got a note from someone indicating that the page names are not displaying correctly in the browser title. Two-line navigation in Aerolite is also slightly off. I need to hear more about stuff like this. Are you guys testing or what??? :)

I’m going to let Aerolite go another day in test until we catch more stuff like this because once I duplicate it for the other colors I’m not going to be interested in fixing 96 individual XML files :-O The better you test, the faster we finish.

I’m going to get Zones Dark Orange into test today also. Customers of that theme will have access to it later today. I will likely rename it ZD Orange however cuz the theme selector in iWeb truncates long theme names. You won’t see the color name.

No other news for the moment – just working on the code.

Seems like iWeb 08 has major problems when Internet Explorer users view sites published by it. Unbelievably Apple releases it and they must of known about it.

What are they saying are the issues Charlie? Or post a link to a good thread if you have one. I’ll have to approve the comment with the link so you won’t see it immediately.

IE6 will always have trouble with PNG files. If you count destructiveness, that browser is the worst piece of software released to the world ever. Bill got bad karma for that one!! heh

Ut oh… I’m using quite a few .png images on my site and my primary audience is going to be using Internet Explorer (sick, I know). Is that going to be a big problem? Thats what I get for assuming iWeb would be compatible w/ all browsers.

There are many threads in the apple forums, heres one:

I have seen the problems in Vista with IE7. Nav bar doesn’t work right if at all, Problems with photo album and quicktime. Apple released an update yesterday and I’m gonna rebuild my site from scratch with a new domain.site and see if it helps. Let you know later tonight.

Ok, I updated iWeb and deleted the old domain.site. Then I just built a quick new page with an apple template and same problems with IE7 on Vista. Photo Albums are crashing it, quicktime movies not working properly if plugin loads at all. The Nav bar problem I believe is just an extension of the other problems because it seems to work fine on pages with just text.

Well, you’re okay to use PNG images on your pages because iWeb contains a hack that “fixes” IE for that. But if you don’t optimize your PNGs, then they can slow your site down.

Whoa Charlie – that’s bad news :-O It would be surprising that Apple released iWeb knowing it was crashing IE7. Strange.
