Okay we have some information. This is just a quick FYI. iWeb’s theme architecture for 2.0 is significantly more complex – we’re talking MAJOR. None of the tools we’ve used in the past will work as a result. Right now we’re mapping the file structure to determine what needs to be present to make a theme work. After that we’ll see if we can adapt our tools to create the stuff that has to be created. I have no idea if this will be possible yet but I’ll keep you posted.
DOH! I was just able to duplicate a theme successfully! However, I now know that the XML for the old templates will not work. We’re going to have to recreate the templates and regenerate the XML.

Oooooooooooooo even more promising… I’ve got the navigation code working!

Today’s Progress

Oh, that looks very promising :)
Thanks to you and your support team. We mere mortals truly appreciate your dedication!
SHOOT! I just finished installing iLife ’08 and upgraded my site to the new iWeb.
However, it seems like iWeb is working with the template I’m using… (your Italian Tile template)
Hmm… the only issue is that my navigation buttons in the header have now disappeared!
PLEASE keep us posted. Thx!
Matthew use the inspector to re-enable the display of the navigation menu. It’s just hidden. However it will not look the same as it was in the old version.
Glad to hear you are being successful. Hope you get the conversions done real soon.
