About This Article •
This entry is specific to the version of Arcturus for iWeb 1.0 ONLY.
Since iWeb doesn’t include any automation to make a tabbed area work by default, we can only fake it. Intuitively it will work as a user would expect, but building it is a manual process. Here’s what you need to do:
- Create your home page and name it Home (or whatever you want). Put everyone on it that you want including the content for the first tab in the tabbed area. Label all tabs with appropriate labels for the content that will be on them later. Make sure the page is complete and as you would like before going to step 2.
- Duplicate the page and give the duplicate a unquie name such as Home2.
- Use the page inspector to hide this page from the navigation menu.
- Click the second tab in the tab area and bring that tab to the front.
- Delete the content for the first tab and replace it with the content for the second tab.
- Select the label for your second tab and use the hyperlink inspector to link it back to the page “Home2″ or whatever you chose.
- Select the label for your first tab and use the hyperlink inspector to link it back to the page “Home” or whatever you chose.
- If you enable hyperlinks in the inspector, you’ll be able to test your tabs right in the iWeb interface.
From here, you can see the pattern and should be able to complete the process for additional tabs if you want. It’s not perfect, but until Apple provides a widget to do this kind of thing, we can only replicate it in a manual way. It’s better than not having it at all :)
