Suck Up Now!

April 19, 2007

LOL… sorry, I can’t keep from laughing. I’ve turned into one of those horribly annoying happy people - the very person I used to despise. What on Earth could possibly cause someone to be in a state of perma-bliss? I never could figure that out and was utterly suspicious of said persons exhibiting such dramatic and convincingly manufactured emotions. Then like that, I’m one of them. See? Be careful what you judge - you will become it! AH! :-O

The funny thing is, I can’t explain it any better now than I could before. All I can say is that it was a long journey of intent and committment. It wasn’t an accident - I just did not expect to arrive… wow, here I am :-O It’s very hard to explain. Maybe in time… when I stop laughing about it all.

Okay, feet on the ground for two minutes…

1) I’m back from Sedona and going through email now. Thanks for your patience.

2) Thank you to everyone who sent well-wishes to my dad and family. He’s doing okay for the moment, but it seems we watch the degrade in his health from day to day now. He has congestive heart failure. Keep him in your prayers - he’s afraid moreso of leaving us behind, not about leaving his troubled body.

Now, about sucking up. Do it now or forever hold your fingers from the keyboard. As you know I was in Sedona, AZ for the last week. And if you know something about Sedona, you know it’s the location of about 4000 unique energy vortexes… drawing people, aliens and slightly fruity folks from all corners of the galaxy. Granted, it might be the beauty of the place that draws some, but this story is about the slightly fruity folks! There was a point at which I had a conversation with, let’s say, some personalities who have connections and they told me something very interesting… I think the exact words were “you are about to come into an immense amount of money in human terms”. HA! :-O I didn’t stop laughing for the entire afternoon. In fact I’m STILL laughing. So… suck up now cuz when the check is cashed, you might have to talk to my secretary or pool boy instead! Anyway, you heard it here first. I think the whole process will take just under 18 months to unfold. What? You thought I was kidding? I told you… I’m building a new web design application… might have something to do with that ey? :D

With that said, I’ll leave you with this wisdom. Those of you still trapped in the routine, ask yourself what it was that first lead you there and whether that desire still seems worth the price you pay. It’s more than just your time and energy - it’s your life you give to pursue whatever that desire was and still is. Are you getting a life in return? Or something less valuable? Realize that there are rules strategically placed along the routine that you follow. They’ve been disguised as milestones. They’re were placed there by that those who created the routine and they’re there to ensure you won’t leave, or in the very least make you think you’re crazy for even entertaining the idea. They’ve set it up to make it look like a path to success and so long as you meet the milestones, there’s an air of success in your mind. All by design. If the prize is not measuring up the level of effort you need to maintain however, then perhaps it’s time to question the approach. It’s life you’re wagering. Just remember, those who created the routine have an entire plan for people who stop to ask… and they have the perfect answers for you as well. See the machine before you engage them.

Love to all.

iWeb 2.0 - DO NOT UPGRADE

  • Oh please just a teeny weeny bit more on what is being developed. Is it likely I will need therapy from my addiction to it??
    -jabby

  • Dear Suzanne, my wonderful, long., lost family relative… for Christmas this year I would like a new iMac with Leopard, need a new iPod, an iPhone, iTV, Photoshop (and a new digital camera) and I’ll take the rest of my gift in cash please. :-) oh, ya, and did I mention that you are the greatest template maker in the entire vortex? (is tht enuf sucking up?) We luve you Santa!!

  • LOL Diane… shameless yet entirely successful!! :D

Jabby - here are a few tidbits for you. This application will be drag and drop like iWeb, but you’ll also be able to drag and drop good stuff on there too, like forms and other popular web widgets like counters, rotating ad banners, music players, etc. We’re building an entirely new framework to make this possible. We’ve taking the best of iWeb’s approach and the best of the HTML approach and merging it. This way you get the fun and intuitive nature that iWeb provides, but the solid code, the powerful plug-in nature of AJAX and JS, the control over the layout, the CSS, the metadata AND the whole deal is “theme-centric” meaning the application will rest upon a theme framework that’s aligned with W3C making themeing straight-forward for people who already do that kind of work.

My cohort in this venture is a brilliant guy… a PhD in artificial intelligence. He only plays to win :) We worked together in a previous life in the corporate world where he was selected as one of the top 25 of the country’s CTO’s. The dude knows his stuff. We’re planning to build a number of Mac applications. All depends on how fast we can get people in place to do the work.

How’s that? You wanna be a test pilot? We don’t have anything to test yet, but will at some point :)

  • Bring on that “test” software Suz!

  • Test pilot? Heck yeah. Drooool. Oh gross.

  • Damn it!!!! I want in on this testing thinghy ;) Just say the word Suzanne, and we’ll be testing like crazy!!!

  • Hi Suzanne,
glad to hear that the web project is rolling along. The last time I checked the site I read that you were cooking up something and wanted to drop you a line or two about web design tools in general but got swamped. Anyway, keep me in mind for beta testing and when you get rich and famous all I’m asking for is a Macbook Pro so I can get out of my house and go hang out at the Starbucks and meet people while doing my computing. Looking forward to all your hard work.
    Slainte…

  • You guys crack me up :) I will be SO happy when we get to test phase and then to have you guys take cracks at it. It’s great to know so many people now who really enjoy all this - and the fact there’s a community of us.

Right now I’m working frantically to release my first RapidWeaver theme. You can watch progress if you’re curious - just note that sometimes I wipe everything off the server and reload things. If you see the site when it’s not there or in disarray, just come back later.

    Okay back to work!

  • The RW theme looks amazing!!!!!! thanks for sharing Suzanne. Can’t wait to see what you’ll cook up for us next ;)

  • Now that’s a RW theme! Can’t wait to add another toy to my collection. Keep up the great work!
    Mike

  • I have RW on my computer but haven’t used it much b/c its not as visual as I would like. I like the idea of starting with a blank canvas or theme and just dragging, dropping and modifying and if I need to tweak some code I do that in another window. I like to see the visual progression of what I’m working on as I’m working on it. BTW for your web project can you have your super smart friend build in the ability to add a Google or Yahoo map mashup? There are a lot of the tools out there but I don’t find them that easy or flexible. I had to tweak a lot of code just to get this to work on a site I’m working on… I know a lot of people who want to do this who get grossed out by the ide of code. Heck we’re in the mapping business and are used to visually oriented software.

  • Oh yeah, we’ll have easy drag and drop widgets like that. It’s on the list :)
