Shooting In New York

March 28, 2007

Ah, let me clarify that there… I’ll be shooting a wedding here this weekend in New York. I’m off Thursday morning with my big bag o’ camera gear. I can’t wait for the day when gadgets no longer run on batteries. I swear you have to pack a charger unit for every gadget you have! Let’s see, let me count them… Nikon D200, Nikon 8800, one iPod, one SLVR, wireless headphones, transmitter for wireless headphones, and my MacBook Pro. Oh… right… the chargers for the 16 Energizer batteries I’m hauling along. Pray they don’t look at me funny when I go through the airport scanners.

I’m really looking forward to this event. I’m not a wedding photographer at all, but I have a few good moves behind the lens. I shot my sister’s wedding and pulled of some really great shots, first because I was using a killer 50mm 1.4 lens, but two, the sunset on the Pacific coast beach was about the best light I’ve ever seen in my life. People saw these pictures and were in awe. I got two wedding gigs right off that ha! This one is for the sister of my brother-in-law.

When I get back, I’ll be getting back into design mode. I’ve been busy with a client build since mid-January but that’s wrapped up. I know so many of you have been asking for the RapidWeaver templates and I’m dying to get moving on that. Believe me, there’s not enough time in the day to do everything I’m so jazzed about creating. Side note for iWeb fans: I’m waiting to get iWeb 2.0 before doing anything further with those templates as that new version may very well change the entire playing field.

THEN! I have a new creative twist coming as well… more design stuff that everyone should be able to use for their web sites. I’ll discuss that later.

P.S. For those of you following this new application that my cohort and I are developing… things are moving along. He’s got his Mac now! AND… he’s really enthused about Cocoa programming. I never thought I’d get him sold to this point, but so far so good. He’s committed, but also invested ;-) Therefore, you should be hearing lots more about this new web design application (and potentially other apps) in the coming months. Realistically, you won’t see anything tangible for a while, but I’ll leak some good gossip here along the way.

P.P.S.S. My other buddy Dave, is about ready to launch his new products for iMovie and podcasting! If you’re into either of those, he’s got something very cool and dang fun for your creative endeavors. I helped him set up a store just like mine so you’ll find his site and interface easy to use and his products, just plain fun.

Okay - time to fly. Enjoy!

  • NIce story, where are the pictures of the wedding, would love to see them.

  • I’m processing photos right now - the families are dying to get their hands on them ack! I shot about 2500 pictures and did a great job (compared to my first attempt :) I’m off to Sedona here in a few days so I’m trying to get everything done before I go again.

  • I’ve been seeing 11’s everywhere… guess that means your comments are working again :)

    Howdy!

  • Where can we find out about Dave’s apps for imovie and podcasting?????

  • You can find Dave at davetemple.com but I’m not sure if he’s selling yet or not. I think he may be, but I haven’t had a chance to catch up with him since I’ve been back from Sedona. Send him an email and see what’s up. He has a contact form just like me.
