Oh my lord, I’ve been perusing YouTube for good guitarists and last night, despite my efforts to get to bed early, I stumbled upon a real gem. This kid is named Matt Rach and he’s a 15 year old Frenchman so far as I can tell. I first spotted him via his cover of Cannon Rock, the popular, and far over-done cover of Jerry C’s arrangement of the famous tune. Matt’s version is better! But that’s only where it begins. This kid is downright brilliant - BRILLIANT. Check out some of these tunes! I have them embedded in this article for ease.
The rockin’ tunes are below, but listen to this one. If you think this kid is just another rock thrasher, think again. I almost cried.
La Jota
Here are some of his rock renditions. Unbelievable.
Cannon Rock
This was originally made famous by Jerry C and has since been covered about a billion times (mostly poorly) by other YouTube geeks.
Amadeus Rock II
I believe Motzart is having a great laugh over this one.
The Attitude Song
You won’t be able to stop watching this one.
Salt Creek
Just when you think he’s two dimensional… SWEET!
Wishful Thinking
A great power ballad!

Which one of you Mac zealots is claiming Microsoft Vista uses stolen OSX features???
Wow Suz! The kid is awesome! I’m going to the barber tomorrow and getting a mullett right after I find a pair of acid-wash jeans at Good Will. Rock on!!
BTW, if you haven’t checked out Erik Mongrain on YouTube yet he is definitely worth a listen as well. One of my favs by him is Airtap - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AbndgwfG22k&mode=related&search=
Yeah isn’t he something. I’m going to play like that. I’ll probably skip the mullet but I’m definitely going to buy some stark white high-top tennis shoes and leave the tongue sticking out of my jeans! Awesome dude! Checking out your link.
