Vertical Nav Bar Pros & Cons »

Guess what folks - Alice over at The Camera Obscura has inspired me to record my first How To screencast. This could be way too addicting. I may never make another template. I have to run this thing through Garage Band to add the neat-o entry and exit music, but you can view the raw movie file here while I prep the cool version off-line. This video tutorial shows you how to change the browser background color AND the two shape images in the header and footer.

  • Suzanne, great podcast - it’s so nice to learn new things. I do hope that you’ll get somewhat addicted to podcasting, as I for one would like to hear more, but please don’t give up designing templates - you’re just too good at it!!

  • Okay okay - a little of each. I need to get over this cold. I sound like I have a clothes pin on my nose. Ken is helping me add the cool intro and exit stuff right now. I’m not getting any REAL work done!! :)

  • I second that! Don’t give up designing templates. AND, now that I’ve listened to and learned something new from your very first podcast, I am applauding your teaching sessions as well. Can’t wait for the next one, Suzanne.

  • Diane I’m going to send you pom poms and a mini skirt - you’re a true fan :) You should see me beating my head trying to get this thing snazzed-up with Garage Band LOL. As my mother always says, “I have talents in other areas.”

  • Rah Rah Sis Boom Bah!

  • LOL… go watch the other ones I just posted you goof. I added a video to the Build Custom Photo Galleries how-to and um… latest blog entry is about the use of vertical navigation menus.

  • Suze, what a super initiative! It’s a really, really great idea to include video tutorials. It’s also wonderful to hear a voice to go with with the personality. I must say, you sound just as I expected you to. Thanks a heap for all you’re doing here. I’ve really enjoyed this vid and the other two you have up right now. Most excellent!

  • Hey there Jim my good friend - glad to see you back here with us and so gald you like my new hobby. Jabberwock (Alice) got me started and now I’m hooked. The videos are so much more useful and helpful I think, and I enjoy doing them. Wait til I record the XML video ey? :)

  • This is so great! Since I get too distracted to actually read AND follow instructions it’s wonderful to see and hear them explained in this format. Now after working with the Aqua Pro template for several months I can finally change the background color. They say knowledge is power and now maybe I’ll try working on my ultimate plan to take over the world. But after conquering a country or two I’ll just get distracted by something bright and shiny- so I think I’ll just watch some more of your podcasts instead. Keep up the great work!

  • LOL… oh you and I have the same problem… bright shiny things ooooooooooo! :) Glad you like the videos. I really have to get back to making those.

  • Hiya…more podcasts! more podcasts! we want more podcasts! :) Thanks for showing me in 10 minutes what I struggled with for 2 hours! Awesome job!

  • Hey Cindy - I knew you’d appreciate those :) Okay, new year’s resolution. I’ll make more iWeb podcasts!

  • I’m trying to apply this concept to the Crimson Pro template as it applies to the the side bar in the white “about me” page. Do I need particular images for this to happen? How can I change the side bar to reflect a gradient of a light green going into a red as on my current website: http://www.actionstrategies.ca

  • Looks like you figured this out before I had a chance to respond. It’s just a shape that uses a gradient fill.

Your site looks really nice Mark.
