Mystic Sunday A Bit Late

November 5, 2006

How did it get to be Sunday again - I was looking forward to Sunday all last week and suddenly it was here and I wasn’t prepared! I realized this about 1AM last night DOH! You can’t just pop into mystic mode you know… well until I master this integration I discussed last week I can’t. The point of integration is to always have the wisdom of Geek and Mystic at all times, not just one on and one off at any given time. I need to work on this. So, I’m hoping here that by writing, I’ll move into mystic mode and find something good to chew on. I’ll begin by describing something very interesting that happened this week.

I have a wonderful friend named Tim. I call him Psychic Tim because, well, that’s what he is - a psychic. Now before you go conjuring up all these images of some guy in robes and a turban that scams people, just listen along. He’s about the farthest thing from that. I met him around four years ago and ever since then we’ve been great friends. He has helped me tremendously with my personal quest to find greater wisdom and to root myself in this world a bit more than I have. But things have changed recently… it’s not always me asking the questions these days. More and more I find him asking ME to read things!

So Tim pings me via IM the other day and he’s jabbering along about something… I asked him how his new house was coming along, how his shop was doing, etc. He says, “Oh, I didn’t tell you… I’m closing the store!” I said, “WHAT???” He opened this store in a small town north of the cities where I live. No one was sure how a psychic with a metaphysical store would do in a small town, but see Tim has this aura about him that you just can’t help but be drawn to… people just love him. He’s very wise and he’s quite gentle when he knows you’re struggling through issues. He just has this way of getting you moving in the right direction without having to kick you in the arse ;-)

Anyway, his store just took off - it was doing fantastically. So to hear that he was closing it was a shocker to say the least. He told me about how the landlord of his building agreed to let a hair salon move in next to him. Apparently she had indicated at one point that she wouldn’t do that, but then did it anyway so it irritated Tim quite a bit to learn this. The walls in the building are extremely narrow and the noise of a salon would surely be disruptive during the readings he did for people in the store.

He gave notice to leave at the end of November. So after telling me all this, he says to me, “I’ve been looking at all these other places… what do you think?” I said, “Dude, I don’t see you moving. I don’t see that store going anywhere yet.” Now funny thing, I was actually getting a vision of his store in my mind and the foundation of the store/building seemed very rooted and heavy. It had a feeling to it as well - it felt like it wouldn’t budge. I thought to myself, what an interesting sensation. So I told him, “Your store is rooted there - you can go but I don’t think it’s going anywhere for now.” He says to me, “What? I put in my notice - you’re wrong.” I replied, “Nope, it’s not going anywhere yet. Not for two and a half months.”

Well that must have interested him so he starts asking me about these places he’s been looking at. He asked me to see what I sensed about the place across the street. So I did. I could see the storefront in my mind’s eye. I walked in the door and I saw two people. I assumed on of them was Tim’s realtor and that guy was pointing up and to the left so I said, “There’s a man with you, he’s wearing nice pants.” I laughed, “He’s pointing up and to the left as if to show you something near the ceiling so go back there and see what’s up there. It’s near the front. I also see that the cement or the plaster is degrading… I see crumbled cement or something.

Well funny thing. The two of them, Tim and the realtor, had been there the day before to see the place and indeed, Tim had been pointing to some water damage near the ceiling on the left side of the space! But that wasn’t the best part of this LONG story. It continues.

I interrupted him at one point and said, “Dude, I keep seeing a log building… when you look at the front of it, the roof slopes from center out to the left and to the right, not front to back. There’s a front porch and the door is right in the middle. When you go inside, it’s very dark and the floors are dark wood. I see you there, decorating a tree and you appear to be chatting with someone although I can’t see that person. It appears the store is IN this building.

He thought that was interesting, but kept asking me about these other places he had seen, asking if I “saw him” in any of those, but I didn’t. The next day, he pinged me again to ask me more questions. I was having a ball actually because these images in my mind were so clear and strong, it was fun to simply ramble about what I was seeing and sensing. Finally, he says, “You know I want to know more about that log building you talked about… you said you saw me there.” I said, “Yes, it’s the only one where I see you… where the store is.” He said, “I don’t know of a building like that. Maybe it’s our new house… it’s log-sided…”

Then there was a long pause. Suddenly he says, “OH MY GOD! No… wait… there’s a building fitting your description right in town! It used to be a photo studio so it’s very dark inside. It’s a log building with a front porch as you describe! But it’s not for sale. It was a while back, but not anymore.”

I said, “Dude, go see your realtor and find out what the deal is with that building - THAT’S THE ONE!” So off he went. He returned in about 45 minutes… told me nothing, but asked, “Okay, what do you read on the owners of that building?” Immediately I see two very old people in the building… a thinner old man near the back and a woman, grossly overweight that walked with a cane. The old woman approached me, but said nothing. The man just watched from afar. I told Tim about these two, but I also mentioned I don’t think these are the owners… however the old woman definitely has something to do with the building.

He said, the owners names are Joyce and Dave (names changed of course). Immediately I then saw the real owners standing way in the back of the building. He was quite tall and she was quite short. The wife seemed to be aware of the old woman and also appeared to be hoping the old woman would scare us. I said to Tim, “The wife is a nut case. There’s something wrong with her mentally. She appears to flutter around and talk a lot, but the screws aren’t tight with that one. The husband seems to be aware of this, but doesn’t appear to concern himself with that issue too much. He seems very happy to know you… wants to talk with you, he’s curious about you. But I sense that you should be careful here. There’s something a bit fishy about them. I get the impression that they aren’t very good with their money - maybe they’re gamblers. They use their charm to get things from people.”

Tim is laughing at this point… he said, “It turns out the husband is a guy I went to high school with… an old buddy. His wife indeed is mentally ill. She’s tried to kill herself a couple of times,” but, “the clincher,” he said, “is that they want to sell the place!!!”

Now at this point, he’s just laughing because the whole series of events over the two days has been most unusual (there’s actually a lot I haven’t written here) but I was just a bit stunned. Tim asked me for a number, what he might pay for the place. I gave him number but it turns out the number was nearly half what the husband said he wanted for the place. I told Tim, “He’s playing you because he knows you wouldn’t want to play hardball with an old friend. But he’s doing just that to you. He’s in some kind of financial trouble. He needs the money. So tell him sorry you only have X to spend and walk away. He’s going to cave and he’ll give it to you for the number I told you.”

So that’s where we’re at. The rest will have to reveal itself over time - the next 2.5 months I guess :) So why do I mention this story… well, one, it was a really interesting experience for me, but two, it highlights something that I wish I would have understood 30 years ago as a kid. I think we’re all naturally capable of “reading” situations, getting impressions about things. What does your gut tell you? Everyone has run into someone new that they just did not like. What reason do you have to dislike someone before you even know them? You hear this all the time - what is it that you’re sensing to trigger that emotion? You’re not insane, you’re not a flake, something is happening to generate that response. So what is it? What part of our mental or physical bodies is capable of reading this energy and what is that energy that we’re reading?

Well quantum physics answers all of those questions quite well these days. I am far more aware of all this than this post will reveal, but the answers to these questions are no more a mystery to scientists than how the earth revolves around the sun. For the pop-culture indoctrination, just watch What The Bleep Do We Know? or The Secret and it’ll be fairly clear. The Secret is a better movie to start with… it introduces the concepts in a more general way that people can relate to. What the Bleep will expand on things by explaining them scientifically.

The thing, however, that I really wish I had understood as a child is that these visions I’m seeing appear no differently than say a memory or a day dream. I always thought a “vision” was some kind of overpowering experience that blinds you from everything else and was almost paralyzing. Well perhaps I’ve been watching too much HBO ey? This is NOT the way it happens. Your ability to read any situation or read people happens in the same way day dreams happen, the same way memories appear in your mind. The problem is, you dismiss what you’re seeing in your mind’s eye as just that, a daydream or your imagination.

Okay so you’re still saying SO WHAT. Well, if you’re not interested in expanding your ability to work more efficiently within any given situation, then perhaps this topic isn’t all that interesting. However, when you realize that you have this innate sensor that’s capable of reading situations at a much finer level than your mind, it becomes an invaluable tool that can provide you with alternative angles, additional strategies, the sense to ask more questions. It empowers you in new ways simply by affording you information you might not have had otherwise.

So this coming week - those of you who have the interest, take time to step back from situations and read them more deeply before fully engaging in them. Every situation you will ever encounter is ripe with every bit of information about how it came to be. You can read that information and get the real picture. You then validate it by asking questions. That’s the key - ask questions to validate what you read. Did you ever wonder why sales people or marketing folks or motivational speakers want you to ACT NOW - don’t go home and think about it - now now now. They’re trying to prevent you from using your intuition. There’s wisdom in having as much knowledge as possible so the longer you have to read a situation, the more information you’ll have to make sound decisions and the less likely you will be to react compulsively.

This is a tool we all have. Some people call it intuition - you have it. It’s not magic, it’s not mysterious, it’s not scary. It’s a tool. Not many people write about intuition - they don’t understand what to say about it, how to use it. It’s not a stand-alone tool, it’s a supporting tool. Gas does nothing by itself - it supports other tools like engines. Intuition is like fuel - it feeds your ability to more clearly and efficiently work with a given situation.

Okay, that’s a wrap for Mystic Sunday my friends. So far Mystic has given us the message that we already are everything we need to be - just get your work out there for others to see, and two, expand your toolset to include your intuition. Wisdom is one of the greatest gifts you can learn to achieve.

Digest. Enjoy!

  • I am wondering…

You see for Tim, Tim sees for you? This seems like an obvious question, but why is it harder us to see our personal path?

  • Ah… so glad to see you here my friend :) You know, I found this very funny/odd myself. Why is he asking me for my thoughts? Well you’re right, it’s much harder for us to see our own situations clearly. I think this is due to the fact that our emotional involvement clouds things. Emotions are chemical reactions in the body to thoughts. When we’re involved in any situation, we tend to “think” many things about it. In our minds, we run over all the different scenarios, we try to determine what others in the situaiton are thinking and feeling. All of these thoughts are also causing emotional responses, some mild, some may be strong.

So when you’re trying to use your intuition, which is far more subtle than your thoughts or your emotions, the stronger influences tend to cloud them. In Tim’s case, he had his heart set on the building across the street. He wouldn’t stop asking about it. I told him about the log building a few times, but he just noted it and went back to the other topic. Obviously his desires were getting in his way on that one. I should find out if there have been any updates to that story.

One of the things I’m learning is to remove your own thoughts and emotions when trying to work with a situation. Perception is a strangely (and scary) powerful thing. The perceptions you choose to hold will color any situation in which you find yourself so you’ve already clouded your experience by walking into it with judgements about what it is. It’s really hard not to do this, but if you can set aside your thoughts and hence, emotions, working with any given situation become far easier and more clear because you’re allowing space where your intuition can actually assist you.
