Suzanne,

I realize someone above already figured out how to take the underlining off the hyperlink, but I havnt :)! How do I do it? Do I simply erase the >underline< tag or is it more complicated?

Thanks a lot in anticipation!

Also, is there any way of avoiding the blur hyperlink symbol appearing when you enable a picture as a link?

Thanks again,

Per

Hi John... right now you gotta keep these things short and sweet cuz my days are long and tiring. I drown with notes this long :)

Not sure on your link problem. The only thing I can think you did was change the underline color and not the link color. For each hyperlink state, there are two colors to set, the font color and the color of the underline (whether you enable it or not). Maybe you only set the underline color to red?

2.0 solves all this, yes

Your other question is off-topic for this entry. I would seek help for this at the Apple iWeb forums. They have the answers for that one.

I've found your information most helpful, Suzanne. But I'm having some problems. I successfully followed your directions, using TextEdit and changed all of my links to the royal blue color you suggested. I looked for BLDefaultHyperlinkCharacterStyleIdentifier0 and did a find/replace using sfa:r=”0″ sfa:g=”.25″ sfa:b=”1″ sfa:a=”1″/>. Then, as I didn't want a different color for visited links, I used the same RGB numbers on BLDefaultHyperlinkCharacterStyleIdentifier2. But the links turn to gray, instead of remaining blue. Well, not all of them, just the ones in my custom-made menu bar. And I located the BLDefaultHyperlinkCharacterStyleIdentifier1 and set the rollover links to a straight red, sfa:r=”1″ sfa:g=”0″ sfa:b=”0″ sfa:a=”1″/>. That worked, except for one link on my home page (www.abilitycomm.com). Any idea what the problem might be, as I was pretty diligent in my find/replace effort?

On another subject, any idea of how to make links to other people's sites open in a new window, instead of leaving my site? I've learned to do it after the fact, after publishing, using Tex-Edit Plus. It doesn't become a permanent part of the Domain file doing it that way, so if you have a different solution, I'd appreciate it.

By the way, I'm using iWeb, 1.1.2. Have you heard if 2.0 will resolve the link color and link window issues?

Okay, one more question (sorry). I'm trying to optimize my site, so I've added a lot of key words into my menu names, but that makes the URL long and contain a bunch of percentage signs and such. Is that the price you pay for naming a page something more complicated than "home?" And, if I wanted to optimize even more, using meta name keywords and descriptions, how would I enter them?

I'm worn out with questions. Hope I haven't worn out my welcome on my first visit as a registered member of the blog.

That's correct. There's one more, it ends with a 3 and it's for disabled hyperlinks, but iWeb doesn't have that featured enabled so you can ignore it if you want.

So I take it

BLDefaultHyperlinkCharacterStyleIdentifier0
is for the hyperlink itself

BLDefaultHyperlinkCharacterStyleIdentifier1
is for the mouseover (or rollover) hyperlink

BLDefaultHyperlinkCharacterStyleIdentifier2
is for the visited hyperlink

??? I'm making a guess, but that would seem correct to me.

Hi Kyle, you likely need to update the underline settings for the rollover style and the visited style in the XML.

The rollover style can be found by searching for:

BLDefaultHyperlinkCharacterStyleIdentifier1

The visited link can be found by searching for:

BLDefaultHyperlinkCharacterStyleIdentifier2

You need to remove the setting for underlining on both of these as well.

I'm having trouble changing the "mouse over" and 'visited" hyperlinks color. Also, I was successful to remove the underline from the hyperlink, but the underline still shows up when you click on the link and after you've visited the link. Please help!
