WHOA! New Look?

May 23, 2006

Hey! Who hacked my site??? :D Well, what do you think? Don’t be too impressed, this is a WordPress theme I purchased and installed for my blog. You all know I use WordPress for my blog right? I just made it look like my iWeb site. Well I really needed to update my theme to something a bit more refined, but as always time is your enemy in that war. I found a theme at TemplateMonster.com that I really liked so I thought I’d give that a try for a while. That’s what you see here now. Haven’t designed a good header for myself yet… I’ll have to work on that. Integration with the WordPress blog is just beginning so you’ll see some things out of sync, but for the most part, it’s there.

I’ve also adapted my iWeb pages to match the style. The ones I’ve converted so far are About, Downloads and the entire Store. There are a couple others, but you wouldn’t normally see them - they’re 404 pages for old links that are now out of date. Would you believe that I adapted this style to iWeb (into a full blown selectable template) in about one day? This is a testament to how far iWeb has come :D But the real secrets to that speed lie in some of the neat little widgets that people have provided to the community along the way.

Cheers!

P.S. I have to cut my grass and tend to some yardwork, but later, I think I’ll complete the free template I have in the works. All the uber-geeks will love this one :D

iWeb 1.1.1 Update Released

Im not so sure about the change, doesnt seem as exciting as the old look. I liked that alot because it was away from the norm, this looks almost to corporate to bland. Doesnt make me all excited like i would get visiting the old site. More artistic flair in the other one. Sorry i like the old one better.

PS. The installs for the 1.1 templates work great, im buying the aqua templates today, keep on rocking with the templates.

  • Suzsanne,

Well, it is really different. I am mixed on it, or should I say just quite haven’t made up my mind on it yet. I think it is easier to find what you want on the page. This is good. It has a corporate feel to it which is not all bad. It is straight forward and for me easier to read. It is just different. It grows on you the more you come back to the page. I am still undecided. I still need to work with it for a while.

  • Wow, LOL, now that’s not what I was expecting… I may have to take the OLD theme and fix it then. One of the reasons I did this was because, as fast as I had to throw things together with the old theme, things were left untidy… like the headings didn’t all match, the use of fonts and font sizes were inconsistent, etc… it’s really hard to obey style rules when you’re moving quickly in a built - any software developer will tell you that.

I may haveto find something else or simply do the original right… but I agree, the original somehow had much more fun and excitement to it. It was just messy! :)

  • Hey Suzasnne!

Well, I for one like the new look! Very clean and easier on the eye when trying to locate things. Not artistic, but I think that your site is slowly becoming more about iWeb themes and educating some of us on them and it’s style needed to reflect that. Guess it all depends on what you as the author of the site are wanting to get across to people. You can always keep 1 fun page though…. We won’t take away any points for fun. :-))
